Here are two different photographs focusing on the design element of balance, specifically symmetry and asymmetry! The books on the shelf are very symmetrical and centred in the middle of the photo. The pennies are in the top right corner, which is different than a common photo, which is usually centered. The picture of the pennies is also taken at a different angle than straight on. I had to get lower and take the picture at the same height of the pennies!
Our inspiration for this shoot was Portraiture, and specifically Annie Leibovitz. We decided to focus on including just faces, and in black and white. I chose this photo because I think that there is nothing else to distract from the simplicity but yet complexity of a face. Some challenges we faced were trying to find a dark spot to take the photo in and also getting the lighting just right. You had to make sure not to over-expose the subject, but not lose them in the background either. Some of Annie Leibovitz's photos are just of the face and that is where we drew our inspiration!
This summer was one of adventure, we stayed in BC and made the most of the amazing place that is in our backyard! A common theme of the pictures is that they are of the outdoors, of exploring new places and enjoying the amazing weather. A lot of these photos are snapshots, some from my phone and some from my GoPro! A few of them are my birthday, spending time with friends and just in general making the most of my summer!
All these photos were purposefully taken as snapshots. A common theme in some of them is that they have the glare off of glass or a window in it. It was hard to take "bad photos" on purpose, because usually you are trying to take good ones, and get everything right in the picture. |
